Review of Lawless (2012) by Brian S — 13 Jul 2018
An enjoyable crime film and dealing with an interesting and harsh part on American history. But it isn't perfect what so ever though, with the first act being a little boring, in my opinion. A perfect example of how to make a modern gangster/crime flick was Ben Affleck's Live by Night (2017).
And while it isn't as good and I found it to be a bit overrated, this film does deliver impressive acting, especially from Shia Leboeuf and Tom Hardy, as well as a good amount of bloody gangster violent, and also deals with themes of manhood, virility and revenge.
Overall, it's an honorable movie and I recommend it !!
