Review of Lake Mungo (2009) by Mitchell S — 16 Jul 2017
Lake Mungo is a phenomenal piece of filmmaking. It's also a colossal piece of...something else. It is literally a waste of 87 minutes and possibly a better cure for insomnia than even the 85-hour long "Cure for Insomnia" movie.
It was marketed as a ghostly horror film, despite the fact that the entire plot is foiled within the first 30 minutes. The suspense is dropped. The point is irrelevant. By all logic, the story ends. But the movie just goes on.
..and on...and on. A postmodern landmark that proves that "plot" is a thing of the 20th century.
