Review of Lake Mungo (2009) by Riff J — 22 Dec 2017
I really disliked this mock documentary on the drowning death of a 16 year old girl and the "supernatural" happenings that occurred afterwards. The pacing was too slow, the acting is subpar (possibly in an attempt to make the actors seem like real people), and the family, including the daughter, is simply not interesting enough to sustain a feature length movie.
Much of the supernatural is even explained away as fraud by the brother, leaving you with a teenage girl having sex with her married neighbor and keeping it bottled up inside so it eventually affected her demeanor.
Um, okay. No effects to speak of either. Awful.
