Review of La Strada (1954) by Bob W — 07 Apr 2015
I finally had a chance to see Fellini's most personal masterpiece and glad I did. The Road is a tragic, emotionally powerful interplay of vagabonds Brute, Clown and Fool with a small brilliant cast each in career best performances.
Masina and Quinn are unforgettable; Basehart unexpectedly perfect. The first winner of Oscar for Best Foreign Film among many other awards. There is wisdom here --the Brute ultimately destroys all but mostly himself in the end, and is left with only regret.
