Review of Knife in the Water (1962) by Jomo W — 10 Oct 2010
One day on a boat, nothing really happened... but so much happened. It's as if your disbelief was never suspended, and you are merely watching a continuation of existence... indeed you forget that these are actors, that their words, movements, lives and personalities are orchestrated.
.. quite the paradox, when you consider how much EFFORT had to be made to make it all seem so effortless; to make them come to life on film, in all their human subtlety, without any pretense. Polanski knows how God must feel, as he is also a master of reality.
PS... these 60s actresses, where are their grandchildren?
