Review of Knife in the Water (1962) by Tom Z — 03 May 2013
Polanski's feature film debut is an impressive example of creative low budget filmmaking and ends up a compelling tongue in cheek comment at youth and maturity juxtaposed. Both its sexual and violent tension unfold slow but in an enthralling way, due to the imaginative nature of the film which makes full use of the claustrophobic setting of the small boat which it is mostly set on, and where virtually every prop on it has its own narrative importance.
