Review of In My Skin (2002) by Al M — 21 Jan 2011
Another powerful entry in the recent trend of brutal French horror films, In My Skin follows an a up-and-coming young business woman who injures herself in an alley outside a party and subsequently becomes obsessed with her skin and what lies underneath it.
She begins to indulge in cutting herself and other acts of self-mutilation as her identity slowly unravels. In My Skin is a visceral exploration of the relation between our bodies and our identities as well as a brutal examination of society's obsession with surface appearances.
