Review of In a Better World (2010) by Camilla O — 11 Sep 2011
Finally got to see last year's Oscar winner for best foreign movie; a story about justice, revenge, life and death shown through the lives of two families, two young boys and their friendship. What started as an act of a revenge to stop violence spirals out of control and ends tragically.
Mikael Persprandt plays Anton, a doctor and one of the boys' dad who works in a refugee camp in Africa and is going through a separation at home. The dilemmas he is facing in professional life as well as on a personal level gives a dramatic effect to the story told back in rural Denmark.
Although very somber and depressive (as most Scandinavian movies are) it ends on an optimistic note.
