Review of Hello, Dolly! (1969) by Kathy M — 26 Jan 2008
I guess the old grump and the egomaniacal meddler deserved each other; they're both totally unappealing characters. I've rarely seen two leads with less chemistry; interesting to learn that Walter Matthau couldn't stand Barbra Streisand in real life.
The standout is Danny Lockin--really shocking that he ended up dying so young, and in such a tragic way.
