Review of Hello, Dolly! (1969) by Jacob M — 26 Dec 2013
Hello Dolly is an extremely bloated and sometimes overdone 60's musical directed by musical legend Gene Kelley that led to the genre's near-extinction in Hollywood. Despite this, it's also underrated.
Featuring a fairly good performances from Walter Matthau and a great, scene-stealing role from the amazing Barbara Streisand, Hello Dolly is not a terrible film. The choreography is fun, the songs are memorable, especially the title track, featuring an unlikely and awesome duet between Streisand and Louis Armstrong, and there's some decently fun comedy in this.
If only this wasn't bloated like a Hollywood epic.
