Hello Dolly the film kinda killed the musical genre in the 60s. After huge Successes with West Side Story, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Oliver!, and Funny Girl, the musical genre would struggle and this film was part of that struggle.
