Review of Hello, Dolly! (1969) by Bob W — 01 Jul 2016
I like it for what it is: a farcical, sparkly sweet and charming Broadway over-production. Barbara Streisand is fabulous as always, but the part is really meant for someone much older Like Carol Channing and Ethel Merman, who each popularized the role on the stage.
Matthau plays his typical curmudgeonly silly self.
