Review of Häxan (1922) by Groucho G — 22 Dec 2007
Pretty cool and creepy silent film about the history of witchcraft in the middle ages. There are some scenes with pictures from books showing stuff from Hell and it explains what's going on. I also loved the scenes with the Devil and other demons and the scenes with all of the torture weapons. But the scenes at the end during the modern days (1920s that is) ran a bit too long and didn't really fit with the rest of the film.
And on a side note, I thought it was pretty hilarious that throughout the whole film they're talking about women and how they are witches and then the modern day scenes talk about how similar witchcraft events take place and that there are still witches out there. So of course, the Danish word for "The End" is "Slut".
