Review of Häxan (1922) by Joann J — 29 Aug 2012
At it's time, "Häxan" was quite controversial due to the depicted 'torture', story content, & eerie effects that audiences witnessed. The film (or documentary-like film) depicts how cruelly women were treated if they were 'witches', which is what the Christians assumed during the medieval times.
At the present time (1922 in the film), these 'witches' were no longer called that, but instead were apparently suffering from dementia. Regardless, "Häxan" is a great film to learn some history & is quite an awesome 'horror' film, too.
