Review of Funny Ha Ha (2003) by Leanne B — 17 Apr 2010
This is like Slacker for the 21st century, it is not really about much but more interested in showing a snapshot of the ordinary youth of today, the ones that you never really see in films. Marnie is an unemployed college graduate with not much direction and ambition she wants her friend Alex to become more than a friend, but doesnt want to really do anything about it.
The film is shot in a documentary low budget style which also reflects the characters and story well, this isnt supposedt o be glamorous and airbrushed, it is reality. I enjoyed the film but it is not for everyone as their is no real action and a lot of people get put of by it.
For those audiences who like films where nothing much happens and the characters have no real motivation and just plod through the film this is for you.
