Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by Brett N — 06 Jan 2010
Iconic love scene aside, this move is about a bunch of really messed up people. Most of them are in the army in the weeks leading up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. While there are murders, torturers, and pimps they all have a heart-of-gold quality to them.
None of them are really liars, in fact it's their lack of tact which leads to most of their trouble. A lot of these characters would lead a happier, more peaceful life if they would lie, or at least just shut up, every once in a while.
