A solid war/romance movie which owes its success to strong performances by Montogomery Clift, Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra, the latter winning an Oscar without singing. The love scene between Lancaster and Deborah Kerr is one of the most iconic in movie history, but hell, it's so kitschy too.
