This movie is in no way shape or form scary. Nor to me is it interesting. This a prime example of a "horror" movie, that spends too much time trying to make me care about the problems of its main characters in hopes of it being "deep".
I don't want "deep" in a horror movie. I want ACTION BLOOD GORE FRIGHT. If I want to see drama and tears and terse interactions between people who feel slighted but still love each other, I'll watch a drama.
(hint I rarely watch dramas) Of course it's nothing like the original Evil Dead series and it's sort of great that they didn't even try. It's more gore than horror, so if you're queasy stay away, otherwise, if you're looking for genuine fright, look elsewhere.
