Review of Evil Dead (2013) by Adrian V — 27 Aug 2018

So, this is one of my favorite horror movies even though it is a "remake" of sorts. The first thing the makers of this film did correctly was cast Jane Levy. She was the perfect Mia. I finished watching the unrated version which didn't add a lot to the original but did put back in a couple of scenes that were previously cut from the theatrical trailer.

The setup of the film was familiar but new and Jane Levy's performance really made the movie for me. I would love for there to be a sequel at some point in the future only if she returns and maybe can find a way to bring Ash back into the picture.

Solid four stars. Really, I wanted to give it five but the movie poster kept me from doing it as it touted this film as "The most terrifying film you will ever experience." Well, it wasn't even close to that but it was good.
