Review of Dreams (1990) by Sasha G — 09 May 2008
Kurosawa typically inserts quite a few opinions into his films in the form of direct, character dialogue, placing little trust in his audience. But this went too far. "Dreams", while beautiful, seems like it was the great Kurosawa's excuse to get all the complaining he had left in him out to the world shortly before he died.
While it's not all bad, and certain episodes remain in my mind because of their strange nature and beauty, it's a good idea to skip on over to "Ran" or "Seven Samurai" instead.
