Review of Donnie Darko (2001) by Rehmedies97 — 13 Aug 2015
Let me be perfectly honest by saying that Donnie Darko is my all-time favorite film. I don't know exactly why but for some phenomenally inexplicable reason, I favored this film above all the others I've seen in my lifetime.
The plot was bizarre and entrallingly engrossing. The production values just perfect enough to deliver the flawless amount of believabilty among all else. The actors were fantastic, especially Jake Gylennhaal in one of his breakout roles and arguably his stongest film role to this day.
The character Frank was surreal and foreboding yet somewhat comic in a enjoyable way. The music was eerie yet strangely calming. The scene in the movie theater was really intriguing and mysterious. The first time I watched this the ending didn't stick with me, but literally everytime afterward it did.
The film has garnered a massive cult following and a well deserved one as far as I'm concerned. Many people will disagree with me but I believe that this film is the absolute best in every regard.
