Review of Cutter's Way (1981) by Mark F — 24 Feb 2008
A really terrific film. It was nearly impossible to find for many years, but is now available on DVD, and I urge everyone to snap it up. Anyone looking for a standard potboiler thriller or a buddy movie should look elsewhere - this is a character study that takes a long, hard look at the American dream and how the 1970s affected it.
Jeff Bridges and especially John Heard give just phenomenal performances. It's hard to explain why this movie is so thrilling and fascinating without giving away too much - just rent it. I highly recommend it.
