Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Nelson X — 30 Aug 2008
Wong Kar-Wai made this in two months, while on break from filming "Ashes of Time." His signature style is written all over the storyline. Kaneshiro was perfect for this role. His ability to juggle multiple languages and dialects, in an intersected urban cultural space produced through a kind of colonial juggling, against the backdrop of a film that juggles multiple narratives, made this his best performance to date.
