Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Sean H — 07 Jun 2014
I've loved this film since I was in my early teens as I liked Faye Wong as a singer, Takeshi Kaneishiro and Tony Leung. It was a guilty pleasure to watch because back then as a teenager I'd wished a girl would have a crush on me, would break into my house everyday and tidy up my place for me.
That would have been wonderful. Unfortunately, it did not happen. Now as a film viewer, I'm really fond of the camera work, lights, music, editing, the unconventional structure and Wong Kar Wai's vision to execute this beautifully done melodrama which excites me in both filmmaking sense and laymen enjoyment in watching the cast play it out.
Ranks as my favorite movie of Asian cinema, and most probably of all languages as well, but I've not decided that.
