Review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) by Lindsay Elizabeth M — 03 Oct 2008
If you can get past Nicolas Cage's bad Italian accent and Penelope Cruz's hairy armpits, this movie is actually pretty good. There's actually a pretty decent love story set in Sicily during World War II.
Look out for pre-Batman Christian Bale as Cruz's first love interest, Mandras. Perhaps the best performance not surprisingly is by John Hurt as the endearing father of Cruz, Dr. Iannis. This film is a little slow but is actually okay.
