Review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) by Andres S — 12 Aug 2011
This is a romantic war film, set in the 1940's of occupied Greece. When I first sat down to watch this film I expected a colossal love story somewhere in the league of Titanic, but that's not what I got.
The main focus of this movie was the war and the relationships between the Italians, the Germans, and the Greeks of the island. It has some good effects and some wonderfully poignant moments, but no way is it as teary or as beautiful and Titanic in terms of love.
I wouldn't say this was an excellent film, but whatever floats your boat.
