Review of Blood Father (2016) by Jody B — 13 Nov 2016
I was looking forward to the release of BloodFather and Gibson's return to a starring role. I was not let down. From the start I was all in on John Link's (Gibson) journey. His performance of a broken, lonely, aging man who is searching for a daughter that may or may not be alive, was thrilling and heartbreaking.
He brings a great energy that translates well in chemistry with Erin Moriarty who plays his daughter Lydia in the movie. I couldn't help be see glimpses of Gibson's Lethal Weapon character peek through, particularly in scenes with such raw emotion and vunerability in his character.
William H Macy and Diego Luna are good in their respective roles but I feel that Luna is missed cast in the role of the villian in this movie. BloodFather is a fine return to form for Gibson and definetly worth your attention.
