Review of Battle for Haditha (2007) by Christina H — 22 Jan 2009
Probably one of the most even handed Iraq War films out there. The young Marines were put under way too much stress from long tours and various other external forces. The Insurgency is absolutely brutal in their attacks, and the common Iraqi is caught in the middle.
Of course, the story does not put the Marine Corps in a good light, but people have to realize that the poor decisions made by a few young men under unimaginable stress should not reflect on the whole. Nor should the poor decisions of insurgents reflect on the common Iraq citizen.
Plus, Elliot Ruiz is awesome. Glad to say that I knew him both as a Marine AND as a member of Americorps, both of us serving in his real home town of Philly!
