Review of Autumn Sonata (1978) by Alex S — 09 Jan 2017
It can't get much better than this. Here, Berman proves his genious. Takes you to a devestatingly emotional climax on sheer acting and cinematography. He zooms in on the faces so that it seems as if the actors are talking directly to you.
(I know, he is talking to the audience at the beginning.) This was my first Bergman film, and after hearing even film critics say that they've never enjoyed Bergman movies, I was very curious as to how much I would really like it.
Loved it. I almost cried. Simply genious, and that's about all there is to say.
