Annie Hall, Great Movies.

Woody Allen's *Annie Hall* is I think is best and his sweet/romantic movie that rivals his other works such as *Manhattan* and * Purple Rose of Cairo*. It is also the most celebrated film of that year and probably it is suppose to be a take on some classic romantic comedies of the 30s and the 40s. Allen embarked on a comedy set in his mind, with flashbacks to the main male character's previous marriages and childhood crushes.

It won Oscars including best picture director, and Actress for Diane Keaton on 1977. It's popularity was really great that parts of the dialogue lodged in the vernacular. AH was Allen's coming of age, a movie that marked a turning point in his career as well as the way his talent was perceived.

After a series of misadventures in relationships, the film then becomes the story of Annie and Alvy's affair, weaving in elements of stand-up comedy, postmodern pieces to camera, Jewish gag, barbed observations on sex, love, and the differences between NY and LA, and a very funny scene with lobsters and spiders. Debatably, Allen's most honest film, it's also ironically and emotionally mature one.

Well, it is what it is, Woody Allen's best and probably one of my favorites from him. He certainly creates movie about people in everyday life in a quirky and funny way that has a very serious tone in it. Many movies have tried to rival *Annie Hall* but nobody compares or defeats it so much.
