Review of Amityville II: The Possession (1982) by Kevin A — 13 Oct 2008
Although derivative of THE EXORCIST and EVIL DEAD, this sequel has it's own depraved charm that makes it something of a curiosity.
Far more disturbing than the original, this time out the story focuses on the Amityville Murders that occurred prior to the 'haunted' legend. The plot is all over the place, but the pacing, violence, and atmosphere are all amped many fold over the original film.
It will never be considered a classic, but has more style, meanness, and diseased atmosphere than the original ever thought to have.
Cult classic with a lower case 'c'.
