Review of Amityville II: The Possession (1982) by Lawrence B — 27 Oct 2018
The first of an endless slew of Amityville sequels is, for the most part, an effectively unsettling entry with some genuinely disturbing moments, which surpasses its retrospectively tame predecssor. With a technically impressive, unnerving first half that dissapointinglyslumps into a mundane second half, Damiano Damiani's haunted house horror is a decidedly guilty pleasure; a creepy mixed-bag of some maverick movie scares overshadowed by the tasteless exploration of the real-life tragedy of the Amityville atrocity.
