Review of All That Heaven Allows (1955) by Quinto W — 17 May 2010
Does a good job of saying that if you are in love then nothing else matters, and those who love you will soon back you up sooner or later. But it's honestly outdated. The cinematography was great and Rock Hudson plays a great character who has some of the same ideas as Thoreau.
They never do a great job of making us care about the characters, but there were moments where I felt bad for the main character's loneliness (especially the tv scene towards the end). Perhaps I was just wanting it to be more like Le Notti Bianche.
