I think maybe as I'm aging, I'm growing less tolerant of movies. For some reason, when I was 12-16, I could sit through a 'classic movie' and enjoy it, now it seems every time I watch one of these classics, I'm bored out of my mind.

This was one of those. It was extremely boring. I hate Peter Lorre, which didn't help, although by the end of the movie, I wanted him to get away with it, because everyone else were idiots. Especially at the end when they were laughing, I was hoping someone would come and shoot them all.

It didn't really do much to make you 'hate' the guy. I mean, he buys a kid a balloon and the end. Next day kid is dead. Woopy doo. At least he got the kid a balloon. And what else does he do? Whistles, annoyingly. I know it was the 30's but come on! Seriously, I couldn't care less about anyone in the movie. The editing was suckage too, again I realize it's the 30's, but I generally like 30's movies. Acting wasn't too bad.

Another annoying thing, which is a stupid complaint but I haven't noticed it in any other foreign movie, is that they talk too damned fast. I've watched a few foreign movies and after a few minutes I forget that it's in a different language (unless they say something funny), but with this, when I'd finished reading the subtitles and look up to see what's going on, they were speaking again! And they kept yelling. Which was really annoying.
