Review of Alexander (1996) by Magnus G — 04 Mar 2013
Theatrical Version.
Hahaha With such a stink around this movie, I only saw it because my very busy best friend wanted me to tell her if it was worth watching just for her imaginary lover, Jared Leto. I will tell her it is because he was good. I expected to be bored out of my mind the entire movie, but with trying to spot all the reasons one might hate this movie, I was actually quite engaged. Honestly, apart from the weird accents, that terrible blond wig, and the lack of ethnic accuracy in casting (which always irks me) I really don't see much to complain about. I enjoyed that battle with the Persians immensely. I got such a thump in my heart. The one in India put a lead weight in my stomach. Really, I felt like I was playing Dynasty Warriors. If there's not a video game about Alexander already, there should be. I'd play that. Anyway, I'd have liked to see more with Alexander and Hephaistion, personally, but then again I am a girl. I like my romances. I feel crazy saying this, but I'm actually curious about the third version of this movie- Alexander: Revisited...
