Review of Ratcatcher (1999) by Cassandra M — 13 Apr 2010
A small boy learns a lot in this film. His best friend drowns before his eyes in a canal in a poor town that he lives in. Partly being his fault, he tries to find peace in his life at a very young age.
The only piece he has is with an older girl who sleeps around with all the boys and a new building structure outside of town. The movie is very slow and low key, so you really have to be interested in it to keep your eyes on the screen.
I did have some troubles doing this, but for the most part, the movie had a lot of emotion and was filmed very well. It takes place during a garbage strike in the late 70s. The film shows how much family can matter and if you work hard, you can soon be at peace.
An overall pretty nice movie with a good story and filmed very well.
