Review of Y Tu Mamá También (2001) by Orpheus A — 31 Jul 2012
Soporific wank-fest for the highly pretentious no 1. An infuriating and thoroughly annoying narrator occasionally interrupts the glacial pace with an oh so insightful soliloquy on the 'action').
Attempting to inject everything with some higher meaning as two completely obnoxious and irritating teenage buffoons and the sparsely conceived cypher of an unhappy middle age woman travel around Mexico in a beat up car.
They talk a lot of bollocks along the way, mostly about sex, but occasionally about politics and the usual fragments of crap that spurts fourth from the double latte drinking elite that clutter the art galleries of the world.
Which of course is the target audience here. To consider it controversial is to acknowledge the inanity and boredom of one's existence, or more importantly to buy into the critics and the hype in which they attempted to manufacture from thin air.
