Review of Y Tu Mamá También (2001) by Phoebe B — 05 Oct 2017
Beautifully shot. The cinematography and camera work is something to admire. Coming from Alfonso Cuaron, one cannot expect less. He has a very distinctive style. A style that I very much appreciate and love.
This movie is so many things than just a Comedy Drama. It's a political movie, it's a movie about Mexican culture, it's a look inside fragile lives, it's a lot of things. The landscape shots of the country side of Mexico are incredibly beautiful.
What was so compelling about this movie was the commentary on different things that we're going on and about the characters themselves. Almost like uncovering little secrets about these vulnerable and sensitive characters. I thought this was so genius the way it was done. This is a movie that deserves several viewings.
Overall, this was a completely amazing film that rocked me to my core.
