Review of Woman Is the Future of Man (2004) by Veronica M — 20 Jul 2007
This is a film that haunts you long after you see it. It seems slight or confusing in a number of ways after you watch it, but it eventually sinks in (for me at least) that it is a strong indictment of human nature while at the same time a sympathetic view of human frustration, obsession, and selfishness.
The very small role of the Chinese waitress is something like the moral center of the film. Hong makes sex scenes that are at once disturbing, erotic, and depressing.
