Review of Woman Is the Future of Man (2004) by M S — 11 Sep 2005
Woman is the Future of Man is highly over-rated. But not by me. The director, Hong Sang-soo, is also over-rated. But not by me. Almost a complete waste of my time, except for the snow scenes.
But if you like to watch a lot of pointless drinking of alcohol, lead actors wandering aimlessly about the streets, their casual sex scenes with the photographer's emphasis on tits and getting sucked-off, and people living aimless lives (as if this is reality), then this film is for you.
Philosophically, I understand the absurd life, but this film didn't show me anything except somebody making a pretentious attempt at being a filmmaker, and perhaps, it was only because Hong Sang-soo happened to have access to a camera.
Ouchy wa-wa, that is mean.
