Review of Wolf Creek (2005) by Li R — 04 Aug 2008
I've been wanting to watch this film for a while now. It was released in 2005, but somehow never got much press in Canada, as far as I know as I recently came across the title (I'd forgotten the title and new the general idea of the film).
But holy crap, this movie left me with such a chill it's unreal. Being a backpacker it ranked up there with the shock value of the first Hostel. Fear of the unknown. Well acted and directed, great cinemetography (didn't look cheesy at all).
Great second film from this director. There are debates on the whole "based on a true story" thing, but well worth watching, if only to make backpackers more aware of their surroundings. I did find it a tad like Texas Chainsaw Masacre (my favourite horror flick of all time).
..the shot of the sun, the wobbley bong sound effects, the whole i-used-to-be-a-butcher-pig-slaughterer, and down to the girl running down the street for help. 5 Star guys.
