Review of Wild Strawberries (2012) by Mitch P — 16 Oct 2007
For those new to Bergman, this is an excellent place to start. Fifty years before his own death, Bergman managed to capture perfectly the sense of mortal dread in all of us. But this film isn't about existential angst: it's about embracing the absurdity of our fleeting existence AND overcoming the fear of death by finding meaning in life and love.
"Wild Strawberries" is also beautifully filmed and acted. This is a true masterpiece of world cinema.
