Review of Wild at Heart (1990) by Jesse C — 26 Sep 2008
Finally a comprehensible David Lunch movie! I kept giving him a chance because I knew he had so much potential, and clearly I was looking in the wrong places. Wild at Heart was still very over-the-top but it was acceptably so, as it audaciously made Wizard of Oz references and the parallel of the two films was spectacularly twisted.
With Wild At Heart the viewer must tell himself: this is after all, Hollywood portraying the south. Although I was sort of waiting for the movie to end, I loved Williem Dafoe's grotesque cameo and Nick Cage's chieftain swoon-er mentality.
I must say Laura Dern was really stunning for an 80's metal chick.
