Review of Wild at Heart (1990) by Logan M — 28 Dec 2016

Wild at Heart is a movie about love-struck youngsters making poor decisions and chain smoking while the evil mother-in-law's murder posse is hot on their trail as told through some kind of Wizard of Oz motif.

I loved it. This is Nicolas Cage at his best, long before getting mixed up in bullshit like Gone in 60 Seconds & The Wicker Man. As with every David Lynch film, oddly menacing characters and moments of dark absurdity will either repel or overjoy the viewer.

There's just no way to accurately describe a David Lynch experience. If there's one director whose technique is truly inimitable, it is totally David Lynch. Willem Dafoe as creepy asshole Bobby Peru is one of my favorite characters of all time.
