Review of What Have I Done to Deserve This? (1984) by Rob R — 30 Jul 2009
Finally getting back on to this box set... really enjoyed this - absolutely mental in such an underated manner. Much like Harry Potter, when the film finishes you sit back and wonder, what have I just seen? But it's the polar opposite. With Potter, it seemed like I'd seen so much yet it was all really nothing. With this, it seems so natural, yet every underground vice (whoredom, paedodom, drugdom, prescription drugdom, murderdom, fraudom, druggingdom, child beatingdom, telekineticdom...) has been covered deliciously and irreverently. I'm not sure I've used the word 'irreverent' before, I usually only see it followed by 'quiz show.'.
And the funny granny, who I presume is in like every Almodovar film ever, is still brilliant.
