Review of Weekend at Bernie's (1989) by Steve B — 23 Aug 2011
An amusing and zany 80's comedy movie, fun for the family. The movie starts off a little slow with a few visual gags here and there but does start to get outrageous once the 'heroes' of the movie reach Bernie's holiday villa.
McCarthy brings a high energy to the movie and plays the more laid back, zany character Larry. The other character, Richard is more stiff, wants a promotion for his hard work, works himself onto a girl and is more stressed out! The comedy bounces back and forth off each of them but the star of the movie has to be Bernie and he's dead! It's pretty funny the lengths the guys go to to hide the truth about Bernie and equally as funny are the lengths Bernie has to go to, whilst dead.
