Not the biased, polarizing political slamdown I expected, Oliver Stone continues his tradition, since "World Trade Center" of taking controversial topics and somehow stripping them of their debate-inducing hysteria without sacrificing character or performance.

"W" is a fairly sympathetic look at different parts of George W Bush's life, and while the approach Stone uses (flashbacks and flashforwards intercut) sometimes comes off as piecemeal, taking away from the flow of the movie, excellent performances (for the most part) and Stone's typical visual flair make for an engaging and just plain interesting motion picture.

Josh Brolin does a great job, but Richard Dreyfuss as Cheney is a must see, and while not all the performances hit the mark (Thandie Newton's Condie Rice impression is terrible) most of the actors, nearly all of them well known to movie goers, give it all they got, and the result is an objective look instead of a mockery or reducing the characters, hated as some of them might be by a large number of people, to ugly caricatures.
