Review of Vertigo (1958) by Taylor A — 25 Feb 2012
I can honestly say I am very familiar with Hitchcock's work and have seen close to 30 of his films, none of which have left me so emotionally effected as Vertigo did. Not only is the back drop of San Francisco absolutely breath taking, but the acting by Stewart and Novak is the finest I've seen Hitchcock bring out of his star players.
I think this is in large part due to that completely heart wrenching plot that both pulls you in faster the an Alaskan bass fisher, with twists and turns like a roller coaster, leaving you holding on for dear life, then spiting you out like a wad of chew from an overweight truck driver.
If you enjoy phenomenal film making with tremendous heart and depravation, then look no further. I love this movie!
