Review of Vantage Point (2008) by Harry M — 12 May 2010
Vantage point is one of the few movies I have seen recently that I can unequivocably say is a good movie. It is not without its flaws but when it comes to engaging the viewers attention with constant action and a developing story line it definitely does what it sets out to do.
There are a number of recognisable faces in this movie which is always nice, it is surprising that some of them had such short performances. Some people have called the performances wooden but the whole movie appeared completely fluid to me.
The biggest flaw with the film was that what would from the perspective of one player take only a few minutes would seem to be from the perspective of another to be a major stretch of time but then when you are trying to compose a counterpoint of segments of the same event from many different viewers it is a work of fine art that succeeds in its task. This is not a work of fine art, it is an exciting action movie that is hard to regret watching.
