Review of Vanishing Point (1971) by Renato L — 13 Oct 2007
Kowalski's identity is slowly revealed through flashbacks. His motivations are not exactly clear (a death wish maybe?), but it's hard not to be sympathetic with him. He tries desperately to escape, from the standstill his life is at, and he does it in the only possible way he knows, with a fast car.
He races against time, against the law, against his past. He speeds up past cities, chasing cars, rattlesnakes, desert preachers, to find the only thing he was looking for, release.
